Since I just started The Fresh Diet today and wanted to record my likes and dislikes, I figured I would start my own blog. So let's me start by when I woke up this morning at about 6:10am. I checked the website to see if the status said "Delivered" on my meals, but instead it said "Delivery on hold." A little distraught, I called up the customer service line and left a message with a live person because it was a call center and offices were not opened (seems a little weird to leave a voicemail with a live person, but OKAY!). So because I didn't hear my dog bark this morning and because of the status on their website, I thought I didn't get the meals, but when I opened the door to step out, I did! Which is great, but I had to rush to throw the meals I needed into my lunchbox (I found my larger one and not my smaller one) and run out the door. My initial thoughts when I opened up the Fresh Diet bag was, "Oh boy, I am going to have to get used to these size meals." The meals look really tiny to me. Not only that, they put the main dinner choice with the sides. Now I know to make sure the sides sort of match in flavor because I couldn't tell at first glance what I was looking at. Anyway, I placed the breakfast, lunch, and one snack into my lunchbox and ran out the door.
When I got to work, I kept the lunch and snack in the lunchbox and took out the breakfast. "Hmm, seems pretty meager," I thought to myself, "I guess I'll just have to deal with it until my body gets used to it." Here is a picture of what they call, "Southwestern Style Scrambled Eggs with Fire Roasted Corn, Fresh Salsa, Bell Peppers, Pepper-Jack Cheese & Nine Grain Toast."

Now here is the problem when I hear someone say "toast." I am expecting a slice of toast, not a half of a slice. Here is how I would revise the meal: use egg whites instead of regular eggs, make sure the cheese is low-fat, use half the cheese, or get rid of it altogether, and then give me a damn whole slice! I had so much egg left over, I had to eat it straight up and my hands got all dirty while eating the half slice with egg spilling over. Honestly, I get into work pretty early so I typically order egg whites with spinach and mushroom on a whole wheat roll (sometimes with Feta) so this is pretty meager to me in the grain department. The problem with ordering food like that is they cook it with everything else (ie. bacon, sausage, etc.) and I'm often left with a greasy aftertaste that I can't stand. But not only did Fresh Diet give me a half of a slice, it was also soggy because it was in the same container with the egg. Seriously, I'm paying a 4th of my salary for meals like this where I get a half-slice of soggy bread?

Now for taste: it was actually decent. With the exception of the partially soggy bread, which I attempted to toast the hell out of, the eggs were well cooked and had a cheesy flavor. The veggies give it a mild kick of flavor so I will say it was decent.
